Landlord and Tenant

Landlord and tenant legislation in 1988 and 1990 set out the guidelines for this relationship and the rights of the two parties.

Landlord and tenant relationships are very important, revolving around someone's home and therefore have to be kept fair and professional. The legislation outlines the position of landlords and their rights in situations that may arise, as well as protecting the rights of tenants in a situation that their position may be threatened.

Landlord and tenant issues include:

  • Notice periods either party must give when vacating the property.
  • Behaviour that is and is not acceptable by each part.
  • Health and safety in the property itself.
